Written by Max in summer 2008 and newly arranged for the album Long Way Home.
"The previous evening I had climbed an incredibly beautiful conical mountain over 11,000 feet, and camped afterwards at about 9,000 feet in a grove of aspens on a small plateau overlooking Utah's canyon country. This song was unusual in that it just came to me suddenly, an instantaneous inspiration, while sitting in camp with my guitar as the wind blew through the trees."
Lyrics
Blow, blow, blow
o’er the plateau, oh, oh
You’re the wind of my longing
and the song of my soul
So blow, blow, blow
o’er the plateau, oh, oh
and the shadows I’ll be chasing
will you come, will you go
I have seen you on the skyline
where you beckon me to race
But your home is in the valley
where I dare not show my face
So blow, blow, blow
o’er the plateau, oh, oh
You’re the wind of my longing
and the song of my soul
So blow, blow, blow
o’er the plateau, oh, oh
and the shadows I’ll be chasing
will you come, will you go
Wind, bring me my love
blow my sorrows away
Moon, shine on my dreams
sun, brighten my day
Trees, bend in the wind
wind in your leaves, sing me to sleep
Sun, wake me at dawn
wearing a smile on my face
So blow, blow, blow
o’er the plateau, oh, oh
You’re the wind of my longing
and the song of my soul
So blow, blow, blow
o’er the plateau, oh, oh
and the shadows I’ll be chasing
will you come, will you go

"Carmichael’s ‘’Plateau’’ comes skipping in, keeping the party vibe going, Everly Brothers overdosed on Paul Simon sanctioned subliminal afro rhythms, the singer enjoying the insecurity of sunshine through clouds, we feel we are on a roundabout ,things become a pleasant blur, tension and giggles in equal measure."
