This project marked Max's first leadership role at vivid studios, which had just proclaimed itself web "architect of record" for the athletic shoe giant. All of vivid was busy rolling out Nike's first web presence, and Max teamed up with new designer Stuart Rogers to create an international style for Nike Futbol, suggesting the lava-lamp spy culture of the swinging 60s. Max himself designed the sequential splash screens for Brazilian soccer stars Ronaldo and Romario; Max wanted the iconic silhouettes to be readable from across the room, to draw fans toward the screen. The multilingual site went live in 17 countries simultaneously and was a huge hit.
