M. E. Bowers Electric, Detroit, Michigan.

by James K. Sayre

My maternal grandfather, Marsden Eugene Bowers, was an electrician by trade. He did his electrical work in Detroit, Michigan in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. His business was called M. E. Bowers Electric.

Recently I found an old business card of his. It was on a 3" bt 5" card,

FOR - YOUR - ELECTRICAL - WORK

CALL

M. E. BOWERS

INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN

HOgarth 2660

Reliability - Service - Right Prices

13409 Hartwell Avenue - Detroit

It was printed in three colors, with narrow yellow strips above and below the words, Industrial Electrician and a thick dark green line through the center of the words.

On the back was typed:

ELECTRIC FAN SERVICE

Audrey S. Bowers

So among her many other skills and talents, my mother was into servicing and repair small electric fans. This was probably in late high school and early college.

For some reason he didn't care for his first and middle names, so he used his initials. In the 1950s, his business was located in a Quonset Hut.

(also see the Quonset Hut link: The Quonset Hut .

End.
