Growing up under fluorescent lights in the 1950s
by James K. Sayre
Another dubious reward for have progressive scientifically-oriented parents were the long fluorescent light bulbs embedded in long metal fixtures that seemed to be almost everywhere in our Mount Lebanon house. They were in the kitchen, in the dining room and naturally, in the basement. We all had a sort of bluish-white tinge, which only magnified our blue-eyed family blondness... Besides their unnatural light, the fluorescent lights also managed to noticeabbly flicker sometimes, especially right before they burned out.
End.
