Chapter 21: Collecting and Observing on the shell beaches, mud flats and in vacant lots

Foster City's margins present excellent opportunities for observation and light, casual collecting of specimens.

NOTE: after handling plant specimens, parts of birds or wild animals, it is best to wash one's hands to avoid any possible allergic reactions to plant materials or contamination by bacteria from animal parts.

The Belmont Slough Wildlife Preserve is best considered as "off limits" for collecting.
