The Blue Gum and other Eucalyptus:
The Blue Gum tree (Eucalyptus globulus) is a graceful addition
to the landscapes of coastal California. It has been growing in California
for about one hundred and fifty years.

Blue Gum lovers touring in the upper Sacramento River Valley in
northern California may enjoy spending a night at the Blue Gum Inn,
2637 County Road 99W, located north of the town of Willows, just a couple
of miles from from Interstate Highway I-5. Go north on I-5 past the Wood
Street exit into Willows and get off at the Bayless Blue Gum road exit.
Go east to County Road 99W and turn left (north) and the Blue Gum Inn is
located on your left. Needless to say, there are some nice Blue Gum trees
around the motel's property. Their room rates are moderate. Their telephone
is 916-934-5401. Next door is Femino's Blue Gum Restaurant. There are also
some nice large stands of Blue Gum trees along County Road 99W.
If you enjoy reading children's stories, there is a great old Australian
children's book called, The Magic Pudding: the Adventures
of Bunyip Bluegum. It was written and illustrated
by Norman Lindsay back in 1918. It is still fresh and includes many charcoal
drawings and some beautiful watercolor paintings of the main characters.
It probably would be considered as not "politically-correct" in
the current sanitary political and "educational" environment.
A great read and reread. Full of typical Oz vim and vigor.
