Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig admits that at least the ten baseball teams with the lowest team payrolls basically have no legitimate chance to make it into the autumn playoffs. Without parity in team payrolls, the game is rigged in favor of the biggest spenders, like Steinbrenner.
The Sports Editor
To the Editor:
So Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig has claimed that up to twenty teams have a "legitimate chance" to compete for playoff spots. In other words, at least ten low-team-payroll teams have no legitimate chance to compete for the playoffs. These would include his own $40 million Milwaukee Brewers, the $38 M Pirates, the $47 M Rockies, the $48 M Nationals, the $36 M Royals, the $41 M Indians, the $45 M Blue Jays and the lowly $29 M Devil Rays. This unfair financial stacking, rigging and cheating, akin to the steroids cheating.
