Written by Max in 1980 and newly arranged for the album Take Me Up.

"I originally built this as a post-punk dirge, via overdubs bounced between two cassette decks in the Dolores Street basement studio, and it was performed by Terra Incognita at our debut show at Club Foot in February 1981. During the next year I experimented with alternative versions, adding tom-toms and female chanting, but the song was never again performed. The original versions were very dark, so for this new version I decided to give it some soul."

Lyrics

Nightcrawling
Bushes burning
Stars falling
Across the plain

Nightcrawling
Daydreaming
Just to lie down
Just to be with you

No reason to be ashamed
No reason to be ashamed
No reason to be ashamed
No reason to be ashamed

Nightcrawling
sheet lightning
bushes burning
across the plain

Day dreaming
skin crawling
take it like a man
take it like a man

No reason to be ashamed
No reason to be ashamed
No reason to be ashamed
No reason to be ashamed
