Tides

In the Pacific ocean, the tidal day is 24.84 hours [Josselyn]. The two high tides and two low tides daily, with a range of about 6 to 8 feet are a constant source of change for animal and plant life that live in or near the edge of the San Francisco Bay. The local newspapers include the tide forecasts in their daily weather reports. The high tide at the San Mateo Bridge is 52 minutes later than high tide at the Golden Gate, while the low tide at the San Mateo Bridge lags by 80 minutes behind that at the Golden Gate. The high tide at the San Mateo bridge is 1.8 feet higher than at the Golden Gate, while the low tide is 0.1 foot higher at the San Mateo Bridge than at the Golden Gate. The local paper, the San Mateo Times, gives the local tide forecast for five days, the San Francisco Chronicle gives them for three days and the San Jose Mercury News and the San Francisco Examiner gives them for two days.
