Daycats, or more properly, day cats or I'm forever feeding day cats... Entertaining local day cats: if you have fenced-in backyard, you may be able to entertain some of the local neighborhood cats in the daytime, hence the name, day cats.

by James K. Sayre

Day cats have existed for hundreds of years. Who knows, maybe they have even evolved a little over time. Anyway, with the discovery of day cats, children and adults have long enjoyed the daily magic of visiting cats.

These days, day cats can be easily induced to visit in your fenced in backyard with a small bowl of dry cat food, a bowl of clean water and a few other feline features such as sunny spots to sun bathe in, shaded spots to cool off in, along with some birds, flowers and scented shrubs, to name a few.

At first, many visiting day cats seem to act like they feel they are trespassing on some other owner-cats' territory. Of course, if you do not own cats, this is merely some protective paranoia on their part. A little gentle calling and gentle petting is often all the reassurance that they need to feel right at home.

It is probably best to bring in any leftover dry food every evening, unless you want to encourage local nocturnal visitors, such as skunks, raccoons, rats, mice and opossums.

Anyway, cheers and good day-catting. Also, there are many good Internet web sites which discuss domesticated cats and their interesting behavior in detail.
