Hands off the Caspian Tern's nesting sites on the East Sand Island, Oregon.

To the Editor:

Recently the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service has hatched a bizarre plan to force the movement of thousands of Caspian Terns that currently nest on East Sand Island, Oregon, which is located near the mouth of the Columbia River on the Pacific Ocean. Supposedly these Caspian Terns are eating the Salmon fish that travel through the Columbia River. Actually it is humans that have been overfishing the Salmon, damming up the Columbia River and other rivers in the Pacific Northwest and in general developing vast regions of natural to upset traditional ecological balances. Let's drop this arrogant plan to relocate the nesting sites of the Caspian Terns on East Sand Island, Oregon and just leave Mother Nature alone.

Please write a letter outlining your concerns about protecting the current nesting sites of the Caspian Terns to the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 1849 "C" Street NW, Washington, DC 20242. Email letters may be submitted from their www.fws.gov/ web site.
