Bitter digestive aids (bitters):

the use of digestive bitters is mostly a European folk tradition. North Americans are much more into sweet flavors. Even some brans of canned Tomato Soup have sugar as the second highest ingredient. It should more properly labeled, "Tomato-Sugar Soup."
